The Brita/REVERB Green Grant would be very helpful in that it would allow us to travel farther distances in a more environmentally friendly fashion. Currently, we have no choice but to resort to using two vehicles when traveling to shows, some as far as 6 hours away. This has not only affected our bank account heavily, but we are also aware of how un-friendly it is to the environment. We would love to be able to use this grant money towards more effective transportation methods such as one eco-friendly van that would be able to comfortably fit all band members and equipment.
"Of course social media is the first thing to come to mind in promoting our efforts to commit to sustainability, but aside from tweets, Facebook statuses, and website updates, we would love to start a video/photo blog that is solely focused on our efforts of going green. We feel that by creating a multimedia blog that is limited to updates of 'how Bearstronaut went green', we would not only be touching a new market for the band and hopefully developing our fan base through this, but we would also be providing guidance for other touring acts on how they too can commit to sustainability. The vlog would give our audience a closer look at our day to day lives, what life is like on the road for the band, and how we problem solve and work to achieve sustainability both on the road and off. Additionally, we would make an effort to use our live shows as a place to promote sustainability. We would do this through simple messaging during sets, as well as through merch (the custom water bottles would be a great start for this!)."
