Melodeego would use the Brita/Reverb Green Grant to strengthen our example of environmental sustainability throughout every aspect of the Clean Green Music Machine tour. As we go from school to school and educate children about the importance of sustainability, our ability to walk the walk makes as much impact on our audience as any message in our words and songs. Specifically, we will dramatically up-grade our bike-powered sound system so we can perform our concerts using 100% clean people-powered energy. We will also convert our touring vehicles to run on waste veggie oil to make our tour as low-impact as possible. A film crew will be documenting the whole tour from start to finish, so our sustainability practices on the road will be paramount to a positive influence on our broader audience.
"Fans often come to Melodeego shows interested in sustainability but not yet engaged, and leave with passion, commitment, an expanded view of what's possible, and most importantly a sense that this movement is for them. Our interactive bike-powered sound system engages fans not only by demonstrating clean energy with every note we play, but by letting the audience feel their own power to create change, spark-ing creative and bold actions. Melodeego also utilizes social media by keeping our fans informed, excited, and involved with the latest actions and campaigns in the sustainability movement. Our shows are part rock concert and part rally, with a call to action at the heart of every song, and every word we speak. Melodeego has collaborated with hundreds of grassroots organizations, plugging our fans into a greater network of environmental activists, giving them the resources to stay committed and connected to the movement."
