How would you use the green tour grant to make your tour green and reduce bottled water waste?

"The most difficult part of acting sustainably is how to balance what you would do with infinite budget with the real costs of running a small business. I want to promote causes I believe in by supporting other enterprises, which adhere to the same principles I do. For example using tour buses that run on bio fuels, playing in venues that adhere to environmentally conscious behaviors, keeping sustainable products on our rider. Making those choices is a more expensive way of doing business. The cash grant would off set those added costs so we are making the best environmental decisions all the time. The product donated would help to bring further awareness as it ensures that we are giving people an option to make the right choice in the venue every night. Finally most important for me and my brand and my business is aligning with other causes, brands and businesses' that have similar goals. I believe Brita carries many of the same principles I do in how I run my business. I can think of no better way to promote the environmentalism than through partnership of likeminded businesses."

How do you encourage your fans to take on more sustainable habits?

"It's a personal goal to encourage anyone I come in contact with to act more environmentally conscious. Be it using glass water bottles, bringing reusable bags to the market, shopping locally at mom and pop stores and farmers markets, my commitment to a better personal environmental footprint is a big part of how I live my life. A goal of mine is to create recycling at every venue, and provide water cooler stations for those with reusable water containers to use. I would also encourage a pack in pack out of personal trash, similar to Burningman Festival, the goal would be to leave no trace. It is truly painful at the end of the night to see a venue after a show littered with plastic cups, straws, napkins and bottles. Coachella was one of the worst I have ever seen, a sea of water bottles and plastic covering the lawn. I think it would also be cool to do a challenge with fans, having them document how they make their concert experience more environmentally friendly. Further engaging fans in brainstorming on how they might improve or create a more sustainable concert experience. There is no better way to get engagement than to include people in the process. "
