Your Weight

The more you drink water throughout the day, the better you feel and, usually, the healthier your weight. Drinking great-tasting Brita® water is an easy habit to start and maintain. Keep a pitcher at your desk, fill up a water bottle for your car and use a faucet filtration system in your kitchen. Having Brita® water available at all times reminds you how important it is to replenish throughout the day. It’s all about a better you.

Your Weight

Water is not a fad diet.

Water contains no calories, fat or cholesterol and is low in sodium.

It’s nature’s appetite suppressant and helps you metabolize fat while aiding in digestion. It’s important to remember about 30% of your water intake comes from food and most diets limit your caloric intake; so remember to drink plenty of water when you diet. In your quest to look and feel the best you can, it’s one of the simplest techniques to reaching your goal.

Here’s how it works: Water metabolizes fat and limits excess weight gain through proper liver functioning. When your liver functions well, your kidneys operate at their peak. The kidneys filter toxins and wastes like uric acid, urea and lactic acid - all of which dissolve in water. But, when you’re not getting enough water, the reverse is true; the kidneys can’t function as well so they rely on the liver to pick up the slack and then the liver can’t metabolize fat. Water also helps you digest solid foods and transports nutrients throughout the body. It helps maintain muscle tone and prevents the sagging of skin, especially after weight loss. When your muscles and skin are toned, your body runs more efficiently and you burn more fat and calories. It’s really that simple.

You’ll have a tough time losing weight if you’re not drinking enough water. If you’re actively trying to lose excess weight and don’t drink enough water you actually increase your body fat. When the body gets dehydrated, it seeks water from other sources, including fat cells. If your fat cells have less water, there's less mobilization of fat for energy.
