• How do I prepare and change the Elite™ filter in my Brita® pitcher?
  1. Insert your Brita Elite™ Filter into the reservoir below the line to seal. Press firmly for a tight seal.
  2. Add cold tap water. Discard your first three pitchers of filtered water or use it to water plants.
• How often should I change my Elite filter?

  Your Brita® Water Pitcher has a built-in SmartLight filter indicator, so you'll know exactly when to replace the Elite™ Filter—every 120 gallons, or about every 6 months for most households.‡ If you have hard water, you may need to change filters more often. • How do I clean my Brita® pitcher?

  Remove the filter and hand-wash the rest of the pitcher components with mild soap, then rinse well. (Never use abrasive detergents or a dishwasher).
